(Rallying Patriots) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) isn’t known for making legislature happen or being consistently intelligent or moral, but she is very useful to the radical wing of the Democratic party for getting the political landscape used to absolutely crazy ideas and fending off all criticism fallaciously but to the satisfaction of her low-information, high-emotion voters who get their political ideology from her Instagram livestreams.
On Monday, AOC declared that the socialist vision of $15 an hour federal minimum wage—which if you object to you’re clearly just a selfish, evil capitalist with no heart or feelings—is in reality not a hugely irresponsible economic move but a “deep compromise” on the part of the radical left.
That’s right—she thinks that $15 an hour federal minimum wage, something which only a few years ago (pre-AOC) would have been a laughable discussion at the federal level, is in reality a mere pittance compared to what she’d like to demand of America’s already struggling small business owners.
What does she think that employers should be required to pay in all 50 states in the union, regardless of local cost-of-living? $24 an hour.
Oh, and anyone who disagrees with her is obviously just living in a “dystopian capitalist nightmare” so don’t even bother trying to debunk that iron-clad logic, boomer.
She made these crazy comments during an appearance on The Mehdi Hasan Show where actually believed she was refuting anyone who would call them crazy.
“Any person who thinks that a $15 minimum wage is the ‘crazy socialist agenda’ is living in a dystopian capitalist nightmare. And we should not prop that up. We should not continue that,” she said.
“There are basic goods that people can’t afford to live on on $7.25 an hour,” declaring it to be “deeply, deeply shameful” to even be having the conversation in the first place.
“Because when you take the minimum wage from several decades ago and you actually account for inflation and productivity gains to today, it should be $24 an hour,” she continued.
The Democrats, she charged, need to understand “how deep of a compromise $15 an hour is.”
“In the United States of America, you should you know if you are working a full-time job, you should be able to afford to live,” she continued.

AOC is joining nearly two dozen Democrats to call on President Joe Biden to demand that $15 minimum wage be included in the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package. The idea, however, had already been nixed by the Senate parliamentarian last week, Breitbart reports.
“Eighty-one million people cast their ballots to elect you on a platform that called for a $15 minimum wage,” the lawmakers wrote in the missive, which essentially called on them to ignore the Senate’s decision.
“We urge you to keep that promise and call on the Presiding Officer of the Senate to refute the Senate Parliamentarian’s advice on a Byrd Rule point of order and maintain the $15 minimum wage provision in the American Rescue Plan,” it continued.
Such a move would set a “significant historical precedent” such as when Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey contradicted the parliamentarian’s advice when he was “pushing to reduce the filibuster threshold from two -thirds of those present to three-fifths” in 1967, which they said he repeated in 1969.
“Ultimately, Republican Vice President Nelson. D. Rockefeller partnered with future Vice President Walter Mondale and succeeded in 1975 while again refusing the parliamentarian,” the lawmakers wrote.
The letter also noted that such an act would prevent tens of millions of Americans from continuing to be underpaid.
“The outdated and complex Byrd rule route in restricting progress must not be an impediment to improving people’s lives,” they continued.
The letter, signed by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Ilhan Omar (R-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Cori Bush (D-MO), and Pramila Jayapal (R-WA) among others, concluded by affirming that Biden and Vice President Harris have the authority to “deliver a raise” for millions of Americans.
.@RoKhanna + 22 House Dems call on White House to ignore the parliamentarian and allow a $15 wage in the Covid bill.
A Senate expert tells me @VP has the power do this—and it'd take 60 votes to overrule her—but that it's never been done on Byrd rule.
